VICTOR VASARELY
Victor Vasarely’s paintings and sculptures helped define the direction of the Op art movement. The compositions of this artist contain various forms that, in combination with various color palettes, produce optical illusions that have given Op-art its name. Vasarely first studied medicine at the University of Budapest before pursuing a career in the visual arts. But a foundation of scientific methodology and objectivity formed the starting point for his work. Just as the theories of Josef Albers and Wassily Kandinsky did. Vasarely exhibited in many cities during his lifetime and his work belongs to the collections of the major museums in the world, including the Center Pompidou, Museum of Modern Art, and the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt.
